Low-cost, high-throughput fabrication of cloth-based microfluidic devices using a photolithographical patterning technique.
In this work, we first report a facile, low-cost and high-throughput method for photolithographical fabrication of microfluidic cloth-based analytical devices (μCADs) by simply using a cotton cloth as a substrate material and employing an inexpensive hydrophobic photoresist laboratory-formulated from commercially available reagents, which allows patterning of reproducible hydrophilic-hydrophobi...
متن کاملFlexible microfluidic cloth-based analytical devices using a low-cost wax patterning technique.
This paper describes the fabrication of microfluidic cloth-based analytical devices (μCADs) using a simple wax patterning method on cotton cloth for performing colorimetric bioassays. Commercial cotton cloth fabric is proposed as a new inexpensive, lightweight, and flexible platform for fabricating two- (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) microfluidic systems. We demonstrated that the wicking prope...
متن کاملPatterning microfluidic device wettability using flow confinement.
We present a simple method to spatially pattern the surface properties of microfluidic devices using flow confinement. Our technique allows surface patterning with micron-scale resolution. To demonstrate its effectiveness, we use it to pattern wettability to form W/O/W and O/W/O double emulsions.
متن کاملParamagnetic Structures within a Microfluidic Channel for Enhanced Immunomagnetic Isolation and Surface Patterning of Cells
In this report, we demonstrate a unique method for embedding magnetic structures inside a microfluidic channel for cell isolation. We used a molding process to fabricate these structures out of a ferrofluid of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles. We show that the embedded magnetic structures significantly increased the magnetic field in the channel, resulting in up to 4-fold enhancement in immunomagne...
متن کاملDigital microfluidic platform for dielectrophoretic patterning of cells encapsulated in hydrogel droplets
In this article, we present a method for cell culture on a digital microfluidic (DMF) platform. Dielectrophoresis is used for trapping and patterning cells encapsulated within a 3D gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) hydrogel. In this method, planar traps are patterned within the electrodes on the DMF chip. Dispersed HEK 293 cells in GelMA solution are used to show negative dielectrophoresis when subj...
